What is IMEI Number?

The IMEI number is used by a GSM network to identify valid devices and therefore can be used for stopping a stolen phone from accessing that network. For example, if a mobile phone is stolen, the owner can call their network provider and instruct them to “blacklist” the phone using its IMEI number.


How can I check my phone IMEI number?

> As with most GSM phones, you can find your IMEI by opening your dialer and typing *#06# using the keypad.

> The unique number will be displayed as soon as you press the second number sign.

> The number is also found in Settings > About Device > Status.

> Just scroll down until you get to the IMEI number.


How do you find the IMEI number on an iPhone?

Follow these steps:

> Open Settings.

> Tap General > About.

> Scroll down to locate the IMEI number.

> Tap and hold the IMEI number to bring up a Copy bubble.

> Tap Copy.


How do I find my IMEI number on my iPhone if I have lost it?

> Launch iTunes on the computer containing the backup.

> Go to iTunes Menu >> Preferences and select Devices tab.

> Your iPhone backups will be displayed under the Device Backups section.

> Hover the mouse pointer over any of the backups and wait for the details to appear.


How does IMEI work in tracking my lost phone?

> Copy that IMEI code.

> Write your IMEI down before your phone gets lost or stolen.

> If your mobile phone is stolen, you can call or go to the nearest service center of your mobile network and give that IMEI number to staff to block your phone.

> Open your apps list and find the Settings icon.

> Tap on it, then scroll down to the bottom of the list until you can see About phone. …

> Now that you’re in the About phone section, press Status.

> Scroll down the Status menu until you find IMEI.

> Here, you will find your phone’s IMEI!


How to check the IMEI of an Android phone using Google Dashboard

> Sign into your Google Account.

> Open the Android Device Manager.

> Your IMEI number should be displayed along with your registered Android device.

> With this information, the authorities should be able to track down your lost or stolen phone much more quickly and easily.
